Great Axe

This term covers a whole range of activities which
contribute to our re-creation of life in our period. If you're interested
in metalwork, you can take up smithing and make tools, weapons, or jewellery.
Much Anglo-Saxon table-ware and furniture was wooden, so carpentry is an
important skill. Their food and cooking-methods were different from ours,
so we re-create them. Leatherwork, spinning, weaving, dyeing - there are
many crafts one can study and master. We value crafts-people, as our ancestors
did, and for the same reason - they are useful to us, we can buy or trade for
their products and they can acquire the things they need through trade or sale.

Often, we sell craft products at shows - they make worthwhile souvenirs- and
this actually adds value to the exhibit.
